The OpenECU project is funded entirely through the purchases of the OpenPort family of OBDII vehicle interface hardware from Tactrix. The proceeds of sales of these cables go towards:

  • Operating costs of the OpenECU websites / servers
  • Purchase of ECUs for reverse engineering and testing
  • Purchase of hardware for reverse engineering (debugging hardware, special connectors, etc.)
  • Purchase of software for reverse engineering (debugging tools, disassemblers (IDA Pro))
  • Purchase of compilers and developments tools (when open-source is not available)
  • Keeping Colby fed.
