The OpenECU project is funded entirely through donations made here and the purchases of the OpenPort family of OBDII vehicle interface hardware from Tactrix. The proceeds of sales of these cables go towards:

  • Operating costs of the OpenECU websites / servers
  • Purchase of ECUs for reverse engineering and testing
  • Purchase of hardware for reverse engineering (debugging hardware, special connectors, etc.)
  • Purchase of software for reverse engineering (debugging tools, disassemblers (IDA Pro))
  • Purchase of compilers and developments tools (when open-source is not available)
  • Keeping Colby fed.
